December 1st being the anniversary of the loss of Carter Stanley, Tom T. and Dixie Hall's Good Home Grown Music company is asking Stanley fans around the world to put their hands together and join spirits commemorating two gentlemen who personify THE foundation of traditional mountain music.
During a lifelong career, Ralph has recorded at least 170 albums which includes 30 on Rebel Records and 20 years worth of recordings with Carter.
Both have written many more (at least a month's worth of spins to refresh the listeners minds once in a while during a frantic month of the Christmas hustle and bustle).
"This, of all years, is truly the time to stand behind our legends and spread appreciation for the amazing legacy they have passed on to us," the Halls said.
The Halls and their record company have launched a grass-roots effort to make the occasion an annual day of remembrance - at least in the U.S.A.
"Reportedly it would take years to get it on the Congressional floor to make Dec. 1st declared as the "National Stanley Brothers Day". So in view of the current Congressional track record let "we the people" support our rights to a day of musical tribute to the most deserving Stanley Brothers," they posted in their newsletter.
"I love the recognition that Dixie Hall, the Spinney Brothers and the good Lord are giving my dad, Carter Stanley,"said his daughter Jeannie Stanley. "I miss this man that I never knew. I would gladly give back all the money his music has made to have him back with me now."
The Halls suggested ways they think "we, the people" can help the cause:
- Request records
- ... Spin Records
- ... Post this
- ... Share this
- ... Send it to all your friends and DJs
" ... let's get the word out and do our part to educate people worldwide about our precious musical treasure. Let's make it a Stanley Brothers celebration," they encouraged.
