Swedish bluegrassers and one of Europe's most respected bluegrass bands, Downhill Bluegrass Band has released their latest CD WONDERLAND.
The material on this album has mostly been written by Jonas Kjellgren and Mikael Grund. They were greatly inspired by traditional bluegrass.
The six piece group, consisting of musicians well respected both in Europe and the USA, play traditionally rooted bluegrass with a contemporary flare. The band originates from Bergslagen, a region in Sweden culturally marked by its heavy industries and mining districts.
Downhill Bluegrass Band was formed by Jonas and Kenneth Kjellgren with the intentions to play traditionally rooted bluegrass with a contemporary flair. Sharing the same musical ideas and sources for inspiration they started to play together in 1998. Since then they have released five CDs, the last one, WONDERLAND with only original material written by Jonas Kjellgren and Mikael Grund.
The band members today are: Jonas Kjellgren on mandolin and vocals, Kenneth Kjellgren on banjo, Mikael Grund on guitar and vocals, Kajsa Kjellgren Westin on bass and vocals, Nicke Widen on dobro and Erik Gunnars Risberg on fiddle.
