Alison Krauss & Union Station
“Few singers do plaintive as well as Alison Krauss, with the whispers, feathery quavers and reedy resignation in her voice…Union Station’s arrangements, immaculate and drumless, hint at an old-timey roots without a glimmer of purism, and they never sugarcoat the sorrow.” – New York Times

Alison Krauss & Union Station features the talents of Krauss (fiddle and lead vocals), Dan Tyminski (guitar, mandolin and lead vocals), Barry Bales (bass and harmony vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar and harmony vocals), and Jerry Douglas (Dobro and harmony vocals). Their work on films such as Cold Mountain and O Brother, Where Art Thou? has contributed immeasurably to a renaissance of American roots music.  A highly sought-after collaborator, Krauss has worked with some of the biggest names in popular music, including James Taylor, Phish, Dolly Parton, Yo Yo Ma and Bonnie Raitt.   Since signing with Rounder Records at the age of 14 in 1985, Krauss has sold in excess of 12 million albums and garnered 26 Grammy® Awards, the most for any female and the third most of any recording artist in Grammy® history.   The group’s first new album in seven years, Paper Airplane, was released April 12.

Abigail Washburn
“Ms. Washburn’s enigmatic songs mingle Appalachia and folk-pop, with tinges of Asia and Bruce Springsteen.”
– New York Times

Hailed by Newsweek for creating a “gorgeous, joyful new sound,” acclaimed singer, songwriter and clawhammer banjo player Abigail Washburn spent 2009 and 2010 challenging boundaries – creating a timeless roots sound filtered through indie pop – for her third album, City of Refuge. Raw, ethereal and at times lushly orchestrated,City of Refuge melds Washburn’s classic, old-time storytelling with contributions from indie-pop songwriter Kai Welch and renowned producer Tucker Martine creating “the best kind of crossover – one that anyone can find comfort in” (LA Times).  City of Refuge was released on January 11.
