Traveler, the new album from world-renowned musician Jerry Douglas, has been released on eOne Music.

This is Douglas’ first solo release since his acclaimed 2009 Christmas album Jerry Christmas! and features special guest vocals from Eric Clapton, Mumford & Sons, Paul Simon, Keb’ Mo’, Marc Cohn and Alison Krauss and Union Station.

The 11-track album also features legendary musicians Dr. John (piano), Béla Fleck (banjo), Del McCoury (harmony vocals), Sam Bush (harmony vocals and mandolin) Omar Hakim (drums) and Viktor Krauss (bass), among others.

Some of the most well-known and beloved performers in acoustic music, Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, have been added to the Sunday, April 29, schedule as the closing performance of MerleFest 25. MerleFest 25, presented by Lowe’s, is slated for April 26 – 29, 2012, and will once again take place on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. MerleFest is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans, gathering to celebrate the memory of musician Eddy Merle Watson, beloved son of American music icon Doc Watson.

12-time GRAMMY® Award Winning Musician Jerry Douglas to Bring Holiday-themed Show “Jerry Christmas” to Historic Franklin Theatre to Raise Funds for Life-Saving Transplant!

12-time GRAMMY® award winning musician, Jerry Douglas, will ring in the holiday season with his show, “Jerry Christmas” and help to raise funds for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association.  “Jerry Christmas”, will be held in honor of Witt “Baby Witt” Deane, a Franklin-area child who had a Heart transplant last fall. The event is planned for Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Historic Franklin Theatre in downtown Franklin.   1 ½ -year-old Witt received a Heart transplant at Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.  Funds are being raised to assist with transplant-related expenses.

Another Award for Jerry Douglas

Alison Krauss and Union Station Dobro player Jerry Douglas (Rounder Recording Artist) received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist from the Americana Music Association!

The awards show (last Thursday evening) was hosted for the ninth time by songwriter Jim Lauderdale, and featured live performances by this year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipients; Lucinda Williams, Jerry Douglas and Gregg Allman as well as many of the award nominees.

Dobro virtuoso Jerry Douglas was distinguished as an outstanding instrumentalist for his solo work and collaboration with Alison Krauss and Union Station. He has won 12 Grammy Awards, a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and was named the Artist in Residence for the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.

Alison Krauss Sells Out Concert in Less Than An Hour!

Alison Krauss' upcoming Champaign, IL concert became a sell out in less than one hour.  Krauss, a Champaign native, will play Oct. 5 at the Virginia Theatre.  Tickets went on sale to the general public at 10 yesterday morning. By about 10:50, the Virginia's Twitter feed reported the concert sold out. The concert will benefit Crisis Nursery.
Crisis Nursery's Marketing and Development Director Kristen Bosch said she was happy to hear about the sellout.
"We're thrilled about the concert," Bosch said. "We got the news (that it would benefit Crisis Nursery) about two weeks ago and it's been a whirlwind ever since. It's going to be a great night for everybody."
Alison Krauss and Union Station, featuring Jerry Douglass, will perform in her home town for the first time in a decade.

Alison talks with Billboard Magazine

In an interview with Billboard's Justin Jacobs, Alison talked about her new album "Paper Airplane" (set to be released April 12) and the reunion with her Grammy award winning band Union Station.

She talks about the difficulties of the band being separated from each other and trying to get "the sound" they used to have.  "It was tough," she said.  They just didn't "have it."

"It felt like home. Everybody had gone their separate ways. Dan Tyminski was touring. Barry Bales was touring.  Jerry Douglas and Ron Block were both touring. But we found that everything we did separately found its way in. The more experiences we all have, the wider our options are."
