About the promoter: Image634667108510637323Traveling to singing schools in rural churches across southern Alabama with his father, who worked for Stamps-Baxter Music Company, grew Mathan's love for music and harmony at a very early age. Singing with his father's gospel band at the age of ten lead to Mathan taking up the guitar at sixteen and forming his own bluegrass band at the age of nineteen. Between listening to Flatt and Scruggs and the Grand Ole Opry every Saturday night on the radio a heart for the authentic tones of the bluegrass sounds was born. The pure authentic origins of bluegrass music are character qualities reflected in the hearts of all loyal bluegrass fans, like Mathan, who just love the integrity of the sounds of the roots of bluegrass.
