He first took the stage with his banjo at the age of 10 and now leads the Mike Scott & The Nashville Band. In addition, he still performs with Ronnie Reno & The Reno Tradition and can be seen regularly on “Reno’s Old Time Music Fest” TV Show airing on RFD TV and Blue Highways TV.

Mike was born in 1962 in Johnson City, Tennessee and has earned a fine reputation as a talented Singer, Songwriter, Producer and TV Host. As a sideman or a featured artist, he has toured extensively throughout every state in the US and all of Canada. He has also toured throughout Europe, including the Wembley Tours (England, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden), and was the first U.S. band to tour in South Africa (Zambia, Lesotho, Malawi).

He recently returned from his third tour to Israel which included headlining with his band at The Jacob’s Ladder Festival located by the Sea of Galilee. He also performed in Norway, The Netherlands, Holland, & Scotland this year.

At age 18, Mike joined “The Father of Bluegrass Gospel,” Carl Story and The Rambling Mountaineers.  He later joined Jim & Jesse and The Virginia Boys and then Ronnie Reno and The Reno Tradition.

Such ventures included performances on BBC TV (British Broadcasting Corporation) in Europe & South Africa and Austin City Limits PBS TV “The Legends of Bluegrass” featuring Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, Ralph Stanley, and Mac Wiseman.
