Rachel Mayanovic Joins Monmroeville

Image634975459951482706Monroeville is proud to announce their newest member, Rachel Mayanovic!

The 23 year - old  may be seen as new to the scene of acoustic and bluegrass music, but this classically trained “violist” from age 10 to 18 seems to fit right in with the four men of Monroeville in the fiddle position.

Rachel also plays guitar and mandolin, and sings in the band, and took lessons in all three starting around the age of 12.

At age 16, Rachel received a full scholarship to the Kaufman Kamp in Maryville, TN, and was able to study with Bobby Hicks and Bruce Molsky. When offered to do advanced work with Mr. Hicks at age 16, Rachel knew this is what she wanted to do.

Rachel states, “It’s tough being the lone woman in the band, because they make me act like a guy sometimes, as in I have to get ready in 15 minutes. That’s Image634975461006823068impossible when you have hair and makeup! But I’m adjusting. They’re like big brothers.”  The "boys" of the band have already nicknamed her "Mayo".

Band leader, and founding member of the band, Matthew Munsey states, " 'Mayo' is one of the most naturally talented people I have ever met.  She has an incredible ear, and amazing voice.  Adding her was a no brainer."

"We (Monroeville) have also had a few changes," states Matthew, " and we ALL hate to see those things happen.  Daniel, Scooter and Zane will always be our brothers, and will STILL make appearances with Monroeville, but with every change comes a different dynamic and sound.  We can say that we are truly excited for the sound of Monroeville!"

On February 28, Monroeville will be featured on the New Music Showcase during the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, TN. For more information on that, their upcoming appearances and new music, please go to the band website.
