PRESCRIPTION BLUEGRASS IMAGE - RONNIE PREVETTE FORMER SUNNY MTN. BOYPrescription Bluegrass has learned that former Sunny Mountain Boy, Ronnie Prevette has suffered a stroke.

We understand that he is affected with some paralysis on his right side and a loss of speech.  He is expected to recover according to the family spokesperson.

His daughter, Jennifer Prevette Fry, posted the following on her social media site:

"He is making great progress but will need physical and speech therapy during the recovery process. His speech is not completely clear yet and he still isn't feeling well. Right now rest and focusing on his recovery are the most important things for him. I am sure he will be back on here and returning calls before we know it. Most of all doing what he loves the most, working on his music. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers because he has a long road ahead of him."

Prevette was a full-time musician from about 1968 until 1978, mostly with Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys.

In 1990, at the age of 42, Prevette retired as a fire fighter and was able to return to playing music full time, returning to Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys in 1999 to work some dates with him. He stayed with the band until Martin's passing.
