The Kentucky Headhunters, the Grammy-Winning, American Southern Country/Rock band that brought us "DUMAS WALKER" have never done a bluegrass song but it's in their blood, they say, since they come from Kentucky.
Now the proof of their statement is ready for the jury (the public) to decide.
The Kentucky Headhunters have added their talents to the new bluegrass album, COUNTRY GRASS, from Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road. And the first single from that album, "Runnin' Waters" is the track featuring TKH.
"I can't wait for people to hear this mash-up of the Kentucky Headhunters and Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road. It's gonna be pretty cool," said the Headhunter's Richard Young. "Runnin' Waters" was the perfect song to do with Lorraine and her band as the music lends itself to more of an acoustic veel. You know man when you listen to that track you just get in the groove of it."
Prescription Bluegrass Radio will be featuring the track on the broadcast that airs next week beginning Saturday on some affiliate stations. Other Bluegrass Broadcasters may be downloading the track and airing it even sooner.
Jordan's album, COUNTRY GRASS is a musical collaboration motivated by the new audiences attending bluegrass festivals. Many of these fans discovered bluegrass music because traditional country is hard to find, so COUNTRY GRASS was born.
"Prescription Bluegrass Radio has made a benchmark for the program with consistently staying closer to the original sound of bluegrass rather than venturing too far out of bounds with other roots sounds," said host Brian McNeal. "We feel that if we put it on the show, folks should automatically know it's bluegrass without us telling them repeatedly...they should know by the unique feel and sound that only bluegrass music presents. The new Headhunters track with Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road is sure not to disappoint," McNeal added.
Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road's distinct sound sets them apart from many traditional bluegrass bands, now enter The Kentucky Headhunters and you have magic! The new single "Runnin' Water," differentiated with Lorraine and Doug Phelps and Richard Young on vocals, shows the band's warm and welcoming personality. Lorraine Jordan hailing from North Carolina, while The Headhunters hail from Kentucky which attributes to the bluegrass-rich sound this track brings.
The single will be accompanied by a music video that was filmed in Kentucky at the legendary Practice House, the location that has delivered all the previous Kentucky Headhunter hit singles.
"The first time I heard The Kentucky Headhunters music, I was a fan. The group was different than anything out there in the world of Country music. Being from Kentucky, I knew they had Bluegrass roots, but when they released "Walk Softly On This Heart of Mine" it showed me just what they could do with the music," says Lorraine Jordan.
COUNTRY GRASS will be released in Spring 2015 on Pinecastle Records. It was produced by Lorraine Jordan and Josh Goforth.
