BANJO FEST Set for Sept. 10th‏ in Oklahoma City!

From Bluegrass to Jazz to Folk, four of the world’s most respected banjo artists are coming to Oklahoma City for one memorable concert event.Image Alt  


 The musical diversity of America’s instrument – the banjo – will proudly be on display as Oklahoma City’s American Banjo Museum presents BANJO FEST from 7 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10th at the Hudiburg Chevrolet Performing Arts Theater at Rose State College in Midwest City.





Scheduled to appear are:

  • ·         CYNTHIA SAYER – New York City jazz icon and world-renown woman of jazz as the result of her international tours and film appearances (most notably with filmmaker and jazz musician, Woody Allen).

  • ·         GARY “BISCUIT” DAVIS – A four-time national banjo champion and band leader for international superstar, Dolly Parton.

  • ·         MARK JOHNSON (joined by EMORY LESTER) – Creator of the “Clawgrass” style of banjo playing, Johnson was presented the 2012 Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass during an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman.

  • ·         ANDY EASTWOOD – A national celebrity in England, Eastwood is a delightfully entertaining vaudevillian in the manner of the late British icon, George Formby.

At the American Banjo Museum, the artistry that goes into crafting highly ornate instruments and the skill and talent that goes into playing them is on full display. The American Banjo Museum brings history and art together in a song hundreds of years in the making.
