It’s Nothin’ Fancy for Justin Tomlin!

Image634779743101504866‘Nothin' Fancy is excited to welcome Justin Tomlin on guitar and vocals! Justin steps in to replace Gary Farris, who has chosen to pursue a new career opportunity. 

Growing up in Amherst County, Virginia, Justin was surrounded by bluegrass at an early age.  He started playing guitar at the age of  ten, and his passion for Bluegrass music continued to grow in subsequent years.  He helped form "The Deer Creek Boys"  and  most recently was playing with the Marion, Virginia based group "Still-House" until this opportunity to join with Nothin' Fancy.

Monroeville Adds Eli Johnston to Band!

Johnston, a multi-instrumentalist, amazing vocalist, and prolific songwriter, will be making his debut with MONROEVILLE on Saturday, December 17th, at the live taping of the PBS show “Song Of The Mountains” in Marion, VA.

Virginia Country & Bluegrass-Music TV Show Goes National On RFD-TV

Image634588672811640645The “Virginia Dreams” of a group of Virginia country and Bluegrass music artists will soon take “Center Stage” on national TV. 

“What we hope to do is showcase our local talent to the world,” said “Virginia Dreams Center Stage” host Tim Spears, who announced today that the country-music TV showcase will debut on RFD-TV in January.

Image634588699146330645Virginia Dreams is also the new record label that recently signed the national bluegrass act Nothin’ Fancy who will be one of the first acts along with Loose Gravel to appear on the show nationally on RFD-TV.

According to Virginia Dreams spokesperson Tammy Hemp, Nothin’ Fancy is scheduled to appear on the show nation-wide on RFD-TV on January 15th at 7:30 ET and the show will repeat on January 19th at 6:30.   The group will sing their version of the 1970 Credence Clearwater Revival Hit “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” and the Peter Rowan classic “Panama Red” both of which are on Nothin’ Fancy’s lasted self-titled CD on the Virginia Dreams Label.

New CD from Nothin' Fancy on Brand New Label!

Image634576404014620690Recorded at Virginia Dreams Studios in Harrisonburg VA and released on the fledgling Virginia Dreams record label, Nothin' Fancy's new self-titled record is a delight for the senses.  Ranging from straight-up bluegrass to original material to a throwback reworking of Credence Clearwater Revival's "Lookin' Out My Back Door" to the trademark Nothin' Fancy humor in "Grandma Bought A Hog," the whole band is thrilled with the relaxed, down-home atmosphere of this recording. 

Says fiddler Chris Sexton, "we worked harder on this record than we ever have before - this is not our first rodeo, and we know what we want the record to feel like.

Yes it’s true, you can ride in the bus with one of the US’ premier bluegrass bands.

New CD and New Label for Nothin' Fancy!

Nothin' Fancy is pleased to announce signing with the Virginia Dreams record label, based in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Nothin' Fancy has been busy recording! The new album is done and undergoing final mixing and mastering, and should be released to the public and media sources soon. Look for the standout original track "Grandma Bought A Hog" to be an instant fan favorite!

Nothin' Fancy Signs New Record Contract!

Nothin' Fancy is excited to announce a new pending record contract to Virginia Dreams of Harrisonburg, VA! More information about the label and the new release is still forthcoming

Speaking of new release...there's going to be a new release! Nothin' Fancy is going into the studio for the third week of March. The say in their February newsletter, "We can't wait to get into the studio, work with our friend Don Rigsby, and hopefully come out with a classic! We're still working out what we're going to be recording, so if you've got a hot number you just can't wait for us to record, email Mike atmike@nothinfancybluegrass.com with your best lobbying pitch!"
