New CD From Brand New Strings

 

Multi-award winning bluegrass band, BRAND NEW STRINGS announced their newest CD STAY TUNED on Rural Rhythm Records is set for release March 27, 2012.  A special CD Release party is planned for Nashville on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Margaritaville located at 322 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37201 at 8:00 pm on the Second Floor Stage.

Lonesome River Band to Record 30-Year Anniversary Collection

Image634617797246170000To commemorate Lonesome River Band’s thirty year milestone, a special 30th anniversary retrospective collection titled CHRONOLOGY will have the group recording 24 songs, to be released in a series of three 8-song EPs - one for each decade of the group’s existence.  The material will lean heavily on updated versions of many of the LRB’s most popular songs during each decade, reprised by the current group.  Volume one of the set is scheduled for release February 28, 2012.

Image634584294510580000Rural Rhythm Records is extremely proud to announce Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out hit #1 on Bluegrass Music Profiles Magazine’s (BMP) Top 10 Album Chart this month with PRIME TYME.  The band also broke a new record with an incredible four singles from this album appearing on the BMP Top 30 Hot Singles chart. 

This is the first time ever the monthly chart includes that many singles from the same artist during the same month. The songs include:  #2 "If Your Heart Should Ever Roll This Way Again"; #3 "Old Kentucky Farmers"; #20 "Gonna Lay Down My Old Guitar"; and #27 "Pretty Little Girl From Galax".

Carolina Road Celebrates New Release During 4th Annual Carolina Road Homecoming Festival!

Carolina Road will celebrate the release of their new album Back to My Roots at their Homecoming Bluegrass Festival November 11-12, 2011 in Burlington, NC.  The North Carolina natives will have an impromptu album release party after a very special performance Saturday during the festival.  The band will play all new tunes from their second album with Rural Rhythm Records and will be joined by special guests Marty Raybon, Don Rigsby, A.L. Wood and honored members of Lorraine Jordan’s Daughters of Bluegrass.  Festival-goers will receive a special prizes with their purchase of the new Back to My Roots album at the festival.

Rural Rhythm Records  announces the October 25, 2011 release of the new album, PRIME TYME by the multi-award winning super group, Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out. Just in time for Bill Monroe's birthday, the new single release,

The song was written by Tom T and Dixie Hall and was inspired by Gov. Paul E. Patton’s speech at the dedication of the Bill Monroe home place.

Steve Martin Awards Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass to Sammy Shelor

Sammy and the Lonesome River Band will perform with Steve Martin on the “Late Show With David Letterman” Nov. 3, 2011.

BlueHighways TV (BHTV) and Rural Rhythm Records announced today that they have formed a promotional partnership to bring the label’s artists to BHTV viewers through HD television specials, guest appearances and music video segments.
... "it is all about the music...television is one of the ways people are discovering and enjoying new music"...

As part of the new partnership, Rural Rhythm artists will also take to the festival stages to educate fans about BlueHighways TV.

Rural Rhythm Records relocating to Tennessee

Last week we told you Rural Rhythm Records was on the move….now here’s a few more details.
RRRRural Rhythm Records is relocating from the Los Angeles, CA area to Mt. Juliet, TN. During the next week, the office phone lines will be down, but the company will be checking emails and can be reached on their cell phones. The label’s current PO Box in CA will be kept open until the new mailing address is announced at a later time.

Rural Rhythm Is On The Move!

Rural Rhythm Records has confirmed the decision to move the company headquarters from the Los Angeles area to Nashville is official and the packing has begun.

The bluegrass record label has been owned an run by the Passamano family since 1987 and has been operated from the west coast.  No firm details of where the office will be located in Nashville has yet been announced but the PR firm, Hope River Entertainment, said more information will be forth-coming in a few weeks.  

Sammy Passamano III responded to our inquiry with, "We are starting to feel the move now as the phones are ringing like crazy and we still have a tone of packing to get done."

The family plans on being in Tennessee by  the 18th of July.

JASON WOOD, MANDOLIN PLAYER, JOINS AUDIE BLAYLOCK & REDLINE


Audie Blaylock & Redline welcome mandolin player, Jason Wood, from Statesville, NC.  Having been brought up in a family filled with music, Jason developed a strong love of Traditional Bluegrass Music.  Jason began playing guitar at the age of 7, then began playing mandolin in June of 2008 and was hired in 2009 by a North Carolina band, Constant Change, filming Song of The Mountains with legendary Curly Seckler.  Jason has performed numerous venues with his Grandfather, renowned songwriter, banjoist and vocalist, A.L. Wood.

Singing has always been an important part of Jason's life. Jason grew up singing in church and has also performed at various churches with his family.  While young in age, Jason has a very deep respect and knowledge for Traditional Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel Music. His major influences are Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs and The Osborne Brothers.  Jason gives 100% credit to God for his talents.  He also credits his Father, Mike Wood, for showing him everything he knows about music.

Jason also proudly plays an Altman Mandolin.

The first single release, "Poor Rebel Soldier" includes guest vocals by Tom Adams. Two additional vocal standout tracks include: “Jesse James” (Marshall Wilborn on lead vocals with harmony vocals by Lynn Morris); and “Don’t Come Back Around” (Jenny Leigh Obert, lead vocals.) An instrumental track, “New San Juan” will be featured on the Bluegrass Radio Network’s nationally syndicated program, INTO THE BLUE from March 20th through March 26, 2011.

Last year Bill Emerson was honored by the DC Bluegrass Union when he was presented the first Washington Monument Award in recognition of his influential 50 year career in bluegrass music, and twice Awarded “Banjo Player of the Year” by Muleskinner News Bluegrass Magazine. Last week FX Productions and Sony Pictures Television announced they have ordered 13 new episodes for a third season of FX Network’s critically acclaimed hit drama, JUSTIFIED starring TIMOTHY OLYPHANT. The show is averaging 3.9 million total viewers on the first run of Season Two with a multi-run weekly average of 7.2 million total viewers. That is certainly good news for Harlan, Kentucky band, CUMBERLAND RIVER who has 5 songs featured on the Wednesday, April 6, 2011 episode. The band includes the talents of: JAMES DEAN, JOSEPH JONES, DUSTIN MIDDLETON, JAMIE STEWART and ANDY BUCKNER

RURAL RHYTHM RECORDS is proud to announce they have signed CUMBERLAND RIVER and will soon release details of their upcoming album. The group includes the incredible instrumental, songwriting and vocal talents of JAMES DEAN, JOSEPH JONES, DUSTIN MIDDLETON, JAMIE STEWART and ANDY BUCKNER who have been in the studio with producer, STEVE GULLEY recording their new album. “They are real mountain men with a story to tell and a unique, special way of telling it. The song actually came about as a result of an invitation to perform for the writers and producers of JUSTIFIED, while in Harland gathering information for the show. With only 24 hours to spare before their performance, CUMBERLAND RIVER got together and composed “Justified” in a style that certainly fits the show. Since that time, five additional songs from their 2010 self released album have been included on the Wednesday, April 6, 2011 episode that airs at 10:00 PM on the FX Network. With fans hearing six original songs performed by CUMBERLAND RIVER on JUSTIFIED that reaches an average of 7.2 million total viewers per week, it certainly has music fans excited about their upcoming new album.
