Derek Johnson Joins Monroe Crossing!

Monroe Crossing introduces singer & guitarist Derek Johnson, to replace founding member Art Blackburn, who is now the band’s full-time manager. Derek grew up on the Dakota prairie in Moorhead, MN. In 2006, he co-founded The High 48s Bluegrass Band, who released four CDs, toured nationally, and won the 2008 Rocky Grass band competition!

“Derek is a wonderful singer, songwriter, guitar player and entertainer with a broad range of experience," says bassist Mark Anderson. “We’ve been learning his originals and getting him up to speed on our material.

We’re ready to hit the ground running!”

His first show will January 15-16 at our first-ever appearance at the Blythe Bluegrass Festival, followed by a January tour of the Southeastern U.S., (Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee & Florida), a seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise (our first cruise to these ports), and a February European tour (the band’s first Euro-tour!).
