Bill Evans Releases New CD–“In Good Company”

Five-string banjo player Bill Evans’ In Good Company is a fitting name for a recording that features one of the largest casts of musicians assembled for a project in recent memory.

Twenty-six acoustic music legends come together to perform five original instrumental compositions along with a stunning ten-minute bluegrass Beatles medley and songs pairing Bill with The Infamous Stringdusters (performing John Martyn’s “Walk to the Water”), Joy Kills Sorrow (performing Sarah Siskind’s “On and On”) and Tim O’Brien (performing “Follow the Drinking Gourd”).

In Good Company was recorded in Berkeley, Nashville and Philadelphia and was produced by Evans with Stephen Mougin (from the Sam Bush Band), Darol Anger and Tom Size.

In a career that now spans over three decades, Banjo for Dummies author Bill Evans has established himself as a pre-eminent banjo performer, composer, author and teacher.

His 1995 Rounder Records release Native and Fine was awarded an Honorable Mention for Acoustic Instrumental Recording of the Year by NA IRD and was a Bluegrass Unlimited magazine chart topper. Bill’s 2001 project Bill Evans Plays Banjo was named a Chicago Tribune Top 10 Bluegrass CD of the Year and his 2009 CD let’s do something… with Megan Lynch garnered the Folk DJ-List #7 Song of the Year in “Rocks and Water.” This year, Bill will tour the United States, Russia and Europe.
