The Image634715445832336000Debut Bluegrass (Americana) Album from 'The Mid North' is an amazing album from start to finish. The songwriting, production and performances are outstanding. It will become your next high rotation album. Well worth a listen.” Bellbottom Magazine. 2012

The band’s Scott Collins  tells us the album is all original music and features players such as Mick Albeck (fiddle), Jenny Shimmin (Banjo), Pete Fidler (Dobro), Nick Dear (Mandolin) Kat Mear (Fiddle), Ross Nickerson, Mark Miracle, Peter McLaughlin and more.

Scott also mentioned  that ABC radio in Australia has picked up the first single 'Rosewood' and has been playing it for the last month.

The Mid North hail from Bellingen NSW Australia and play mostly original bluegrass and Americana music including 'Where I found my home' as featured on World Wide Bluegrass radio, crowd favourite 'Rosewood' also featured on ABC radio and the rip roaring 'Where the Sun Shines'.

You might remember when Arizona’s X-Train toured “Down Under” just before Christmas and the band’s Mark Miracle wrote several Guest-Blogger comments for us.  So we asked Mark for his thoughts on The Mid North and here they are:

We first heard of Scott Collins (band member of "The Mid North") prior to our leaving for our month long Australia/New Zealand tour (Nov/Dec '11). Ross (Nickerson) had sent us a few of his tunes with the suggestion that we get familiar with them so we could have Scott join us on stage at the Harrietville BG Convention in Harrietville, AUS. Scott joined us on stage on 2 occasions over the weekend and we performed "Rosewood" and "Where I Found My Home", both of which he wrote. Come to find out that the sets were recorded and Scott included "Rosewood" on the latest project, "The Mid North / You Were Right About The Stars". What an honor! "X Train" also hopes to put out a new project and include this tune as well...most likely the live version from Harrietville, as this track showcases Scott and his talents so well. I have heard tracks from the new cd and what a great collection of music from down under. "X Train" will be returning to Australia in Dec for over 2 weeks of concerts and teaching at the Melaney Banjo Camp...and we hope to see Scott Collins, along with MANY of our new friends, while we are there.

Prescription Bluegrass Radio will feature Scott’s song “Rosewood” this week on the program.  Click Here for Radio Stations and times.
