Patuxent Music Releases Banjo Gem

Image635130540562574010The Patuxent label is no stranger to good bluegrass.  Label creator Tom Mindte has a knack for finding the best sidemen on which to put the spotlight.

His latest find, Banjo Man, Tom Neal from the group BLUESTONE is no exception.  Neal and Mindte have teamed up to release BANJOLAND, an album of great bluegrass with both traditional and contemporary touches.

Mike Mumford says in his liner notes; “what struck me right between the ears about Tom's playing was his beautiful sense of phrasing and blending of the major banjo styles—Scruggs ,Reno, Crowe, Keith, Munde etc. All of those key ingredients are here for us to enjoy.”

Recorded in three distinctly different sessions the CD is a showcase for Neal’s wide-ranging style.
Throughout the album he brings both traditional and contemporary touches to the music. Within these sessions are Scruggs style, melodic fiddle tunes, Reno style, gospel, ballads, tasteful breaks, supportive backup and some especially fine original tunes.

With some of the genre’s finest pickers like Michael Cleveland, Frank Solivan II and Marshal Wilborn augmenting a few of the pickers from Neal’s band Bluestone, BANJOLAND  offers 14 tunes that Mindte and Neal can certainly be proud to present.

The album is available from Patuxent Music’s website as well as several online outlets.
