Sometimes "Looking Forward" means "Looking Back" and Lorraine Jordan has accomplished that so magnificently with her new album COUNTRY GRASS. The album features some of Country Music's biggest legends singing right along with Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road on songs with which they originally had country hits long ago. These are not simple bluegrass covers either. Lorraine and the boys have given birth to a new genre: Country Grass. We asked Lorraine if she could be a guest-blogger for us and give us a glimpse of what she's been experiencing with this album. She has chosen to do this one song at a time. Here's what she has to say. - Thank you Lorraine!
The first time I noticed the Kentucky Headhunters music was when they recorded a Bill Monroe song. I remember saying to others, "There's a country band that's got a Monroe tune on the radio and they nailed it." They were doing the harmonies with the bluegrass feel.
From that point on, I was a Kentucky Headhunters fan. I used to love watching their music videos, and little did I know that someday I would be making a video with them so close to where they made their original ones. It was so much fun making the video with these guys, because they're a really good time!
The song we recorded with them is an original song they had recorded previously. We put the driving banjo and sawing fiddle on it, which gave it a extraordinary touch. We all liked it so much that we decided to make it the lead single from 'Country Grass.'I believe our vocals came together extremely well...these guys are all great musicians! They have so much charisma!
We look forward to touring with the Kentucky Headhunters on a few select gigs. One of them is the Paramount Theater in Ashland, KY, the first Saturday in November. It's gonna be really cool when Bluegrass meets the Headhunters' style, all coming together under one roof.
Check out our new single, "Runnin' Water" and video on our Web site at www.carolinaroadband.com. And be sure to pick up a copy of our latest album 'Country Grass,' which also features some of my other favorites like Lee Greenwood, Crystal Gayle, Jim Ed Brown, John Conlee, T.G. Sheppard and more!
