Iconic Western Artist, Michael Martin Murphey recently helped raise another $5,000 to help the ongoing restoration of the cabin where the American standard, "Home On The range", was written.
"The cabin was literally falling apart a few years ago when I first learned of the restoration project. I'm happy to help preserve this important place where such a meaningful American Standard was written," said Murphey.
During a benefit concert in Smith Center, Kansas this week, Murphey performed many of his hits including "Wildfire", "Carolina In The Pines", Cowboy Logic", and the popular "Home On The Range".
The Home on the Range Cabin is listed on the National Historical Register. The Home on the Range site is 240 acres in Pleasant Township, Smith County, Kansas.
The entire site is privately owned and managed by the Peoples Heartland Foundation, a 501c3 charity, who received it as a gift from the Trustees of the Ellen Rust Living Trust.
