Sam Bush is honored with a special award at Music on the Mountaintop!

This past weekend, the team from Music on the Mountaintop Festival in Boone, NC presented Sam Bush with a Living Legend Lifetime Achievement Award in the form of a 1960 Harmony Mandolin.
"It's a wonderful festival to play and an amazing audience. I want to thank Jimmy Hunt and all the people that work with Music on the Mountaintop for this nice honor. It's a great festival with a great setting and I invite you to check it out sometime," says Sam Bush. "Even though we had some crazy high winds, we were able to complete the set rain-free."

Music on the Mountaintop is a special music festival that started in 2008 and has grown each year raising awareness and dollars for environmental organizations - Appalachian Voices and The Mountain Alliance.

A Life-Size Statue of Doc Watson Playing His Guitar!

The unveiling Friday will mark more than a year of planning, preparations and fund-raising to honor the legendary folk/bluegrass artist in downtown Boone, NC where he often sat and picked his guitar as a young man in real life.  As a young and struggling artist, Doc Watson spent many days performing for tips at storefronts in Boone NC. and other nearby towns.

There will be a plaque on the bench according to Doc’s wishes that will say, “Doc Watson – Just one of the people”
