Tom T. and Miss Dixie Share Pictures and Videos of Bean Blossom!

Every year at Bean Blossom we hear the same words spoken:
"It just don't get any better than this," and every year it does.

Tom T. Hall and Dr. Ralph Stanley Reunite for "The Water Lily" a Tom T. classic from the Saturday Night, Sunday Morning project on Rebel Records.

Even in this age of unpredictable weather, all was well. In June 2011 the sun god smiled andeveryone went on to perform or to celebrate this greatest homecoming of bluegrass music for Mr.. Bill Monroe's 100th birthday anniversary.

There are many memories shared and re-shared at Bean Blossom and... so much hope for the future of the music!
Our hats are off and our gratitude goes out to Dwight and all the Dillman family who have put so much hard work and so much of themselves upholding the tradition of Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Ralph Stanley, and so many true legends of mountain and bluegrass music.

Of equal importance is the support given to our younger generation - Josh Williams, Ryan Holladay, Sierra Hull, and Isaac Moore.
No one at Bean Blossom ever goes hungry - either for good music or for good groceries.  In addition to the excellent variety of concessions (they even feature fried walleye - JD Crowe's favorite!), there are cookouts and jamming going on all week long.  On arrival, Miss Dixie was met with a platter of Kenny Baker potatoes and the following day, Mr.. Jessie Perdue came calling with his new CD, One Sweet Day, and a plate heaped with home cooked bass.(l to r - Carol Morgan, Missy Nichols, Miss Dixie, Mrs. Langford, Tom T. and Bev Swafford)
One day James King sliced up homegrown tomatoes and handed out "bologna and 'mater samiches" to the crowd. And the regular "supper" of Miss Dixie's jalapeƱo corn bread (assisted these days by Becky Lawrence) and soup beans cooked by Jack Davis with Central Indiana Bluegrass was well received by a large crowd, led by an enthusiastic Lorraine Jordan - who we hear was fighting for the last piece of corn bread!
MISS DIXIE'S
JALAPENO BROCCOLI CORNBREAD
1 cup chopped fresh or frozen broccoli
1 (8 1/2 oz.) package Jiffy corn muffin mix
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 - 2 chopped jalapeno peppers (more or less depending on your heat preference)
1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted
4 eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Cook broccoli until crisp-tender.  Combine muffin mix, broccoli, onion and jalapeno peppers in a large bowl.  Combine the margarine or butter, eggs and cottage cheese.  Add to muffin mixture; stir just till batter is smooth (do not overbeat).  Add cheddar cheese.  Pour batter into a greased 10" cast iron skillet or greased 8" x 8" x 2" baking pan.  Bake in a 350 degree oven about 35 - 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes 8 servings.

Newest heart throb on the circuit, currently touring with the legendary Melvin Goins, is LUKE SHAMBLIN lighting up the crowd with his brand new Hound Dog Blues, a Dixie & Tom T. song.  It is the lead single release (featuring Jesse McReynolds, Don Rigsby and Chris Jones) from Luke's new project Timing's Everything.

Miss Dixie takes a few minutes to bond with fellow Dave Evans fan, William Brown, W.Va., who is wild about the Hall's song Pretty Green Hills.
