German Bluegrass Band to Guest Blog Here

Covered Grass EWOB 2012The German Bluegrass band Covered Grass has made such an impression on so many new fans all over the world with their smash-hit video “Goodnight John Boy” a tribute song written by the band for the Walton’s TV Show characters that they garnered an unprecedented invitation from the original cast of the show to perform their song live in Los Angeles this month before the assembled cast, spouses, friends and fans of the show at the 40th anniversary Gala Celebration.

Foghorn In Ireland - Post #2

Image634719716704717876The Foghorn String Band, in Ireland this month, is guest blogging for us. Again, Nadine Landry writes for the group….

We sure are a lucky bunch! We get to travel and experience our favorite place: Ireland. An average day consists of driving the wee roads looking at the sheep and cattle grazing in the green (yes, green everywhere!) pastures, stopping in a pub and being served perfect pints of Guinness every time, visiting with great friends we only get to see once a year. Not to mention playing music to audiences that seem to like what we do and what we've done to their songs and tunes!

Every once in a while, just when you think nothing can get any more perfect, we get even luckier. Let us go back to Thursday night. After a great gig at the lovely Glens Centre in Manorhamilton, we walked Image634719707605199876down to Connelly's for a pint, and ended up in one of the most amazing song swap ever. Joe and Ita have owned the 150 squared foot bar for 40 years. He claimed he used to know 6000 songs, she said she can't carry a tune. But while he sang, she sang along to every song. We traded songs for hours, the few patrons joining in, a timeless session that could have happened ages ago.

Della Mae Tours Europe!

Della Mae, currently on tour throughout Germany, has agreed to become “Guest-Bloggers” here and share their adventures with us back home for the next 3 weeks.  The group’s lead singer Celia Woodsmith sends us the ladies’  first report and we’ll remind you that you can listen in on a world-wide broadcast of their first show tomorrow night.  Details at the bottom of Celia’s post.
The Bluegrass Jamboree is on the Road! After 21 hours of traveling from Boston to Dublin and finally to Dusseldorf, we have managed to get here in one piece. After bumbling through a couple supermarket transactions we sat down to wait for our sound-man Werner to pick us up. Though he claims he is just a sound-man, Werner also acts as our tour manager but more importantly he is the person we learn our many quirky German phrases from. I do hope that Greg Lizst of the Deadly Gentlemen uses “I have been a very bad dog” on stage. To our dismay “You are a very good looking audience” doesn’t translate so well….

Dixie Bee Liners On The Road ! Part 4

Prescription Bluegrass offered the Bee Liners a chance to be guest bloggers during the month of May as a way to keep fans up-to-date on the groups road tour, to give us all a glimpse into just what it really takes to put a touring band on the road and hopefully a method of attracting some "Dixie Converts" into the hive. So far it's working. Readership on their posts is so incredible we've extended the posts into June to cover the beginning of their "Summer Swarm" Tour. Here, in this fourth installment, group founder Brandi Hart picks up where Buddy Woodward left off. See if you've been buzzed into the Bee Liners' swarm. [Read previous posts here and here]

George Orwell once observed that the first obligation of the intelligent man is sometimes to restate the obvious.

Which is a clever way for me to segue into Dixie Bee-Liners' Road Rule #2: No matter how hungry you are...no matter what time it is...no matter how tired, dispirited and cranky you are...NEVER eat gas station hot dogs.

Especially with "chili."

Welcome to the Dixie Bee Liners, our Special Guest Bloggers this month as they run down the highway sharing the blogging duties and driving duties alternately while on their way to some special shows. We'll let them tell you all about it. We're just a tad late posting their first story due to some technical glitches but continue to watch for more updates from one of Bluegrass and Acoustic Music's most exciting groups.   Their first entry is written by founding member and mandolinist Buddy Woodward.
