$10K Grant Awarded to Banjo Museum!

imageThe American Banjo Museum was recently awarded a grant for $10,000 from the Kirkpatrick Family Fund to establish a Banjo Learning Lounge at the museum.

Remembering Miss Dixie Committee Announces Grants‏!

Image635810080416642457The Remembering Miss Dixie Committee has announced five grants to the following organizations in October 2015.

The five grantees are:

  • Youth Scholarships to the Steve Kaufman Guitar and Mandolin Workshops Nov. 13-15 in Lebanon, TN;
  • The Youth Bluegrass Boot Camp at the Bill Monroe Music Park in Bean Blossom, IN;
  • The Kentucky Center for Traditional Music at Morehead State University in Morehead, KY;
  • The Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies Program at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN;
  • Gideon Bibles International.

2015 Grant Winners From The Foundation For Bluegrass Music!

Foundation for Bluegrass Music Announces Grants to Honor Doug Dillard and Doc Watson!

Image634927434544927900Two very important musicians were lost to us in 2012, banjoist Doug Dillard of the Dillards and  guitarist and folklorist "Doc" Watson.

The Foundation for Bluegrass Music will be funding grants in their honor this year and has set June 30, 2013 as the deadline to apply for these resources.

Foundation Announces “Bluegrass Innovator” Grant Recipients For 2013

fbmThe Board of Directors for the Foundation for Bluegrass Music announced that four projects will receive a total of $8,000 in grants in 2013 in honor of two legendary contributors to the genre, both who passed away within the last 18 months: banjo player Earl Scruggs, a member of the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame; and California event producer Warren Hellman, a recipient of the IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award.  The recipients are: 

  • The Freight and Salvage
  • The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail
  • Durango Bluegrass Meltdown
  • Guitars in the Classroom

Foundation Extends Grant Application Deadline

Image634744128409317272The Foundation for Bluegrass Music will be funding grants to honor two very important innovators in the world of bluegrass music -Mr. Earl Scruggs who passed away this year and Mr. Warren Hellman who passed away in 2011.

The previous application deadline of August 15th has been extended one week to August 22, 2012.

The bluegrass music world lost two important icons in 2011 in the persons of Hazel Dickens and Carlton Haney. In their memory, the Foundation for Bluegrass Music will be funding grants and/or scholarships this year and has set August 15, 2011 as the deadline to apply for these resources.
