The Colorado Bluegrass Music Society has a new outlet called BlogGrass.
It's a forum to discuss all things bluegrass and Colorado, too.

We don’t have much in the way of details yet, but videos began circulating around the Internet today showing the flooding situation occurring in Colorado.
The popular Planet Bluegrass festival area is particularly hard hit and the pictures captured by area residents tell most of the terrible news. What we don’t know right now is the extent of the damage or future plans. However we are attempting to get information from sources at the scene and we will continue to update as we have new information.
Sweet Sunny South, The Reeltime Travelers, and Open Road along with Colorado’s Front Range region all get some world-wide exposure in Peter Heller’s best-selling book, “The Dog Stars”.
Believe it or not, we just got word that tickets are still available for this weekend’s Yonder Mountain “Kinfolk” Celebration at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado.
As apart of the special celebration with Yonder Mountain String Band and special musical guests, the band will also be extending a hand to their fellow Coloradoans in-need by hosting a silent auction to benefit the Colorado Fire Relief Fund. Kinfolk will have the opportunity to bid on archived posters and signed merchandise, tickets to upcoming events, and instruments & gear (!) from the band's vault.

Jeff Scroggins and Colorado are excited to officially announce that KC Groves has joined the band on Upright bass.
Miss Groves is a founding member of the well-known old time band and Rounder recording artists, “Uncle Earl.”
DENVER, Aug. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, September 23rd, the Mile High Down Syndrome Association (MHDSA) will host its 16th annual Step Up for Down Syndrome walk at Denver City Park.
More than 4,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will raise critical funds needed to support programs and services for the over 6,000 people with Down syndrome living in Colorado and their families.
Registration is now open on the MHDSA's website, www.StepUpDenver.org.
For the first time in the walk's history, MHDSA will feature a Talent Show for self-advocates, showcasing their skills and abilities. Auditions for the talent show will take place on Saturday, September 8(th), at Mullen High School, 3601 South Lowell Boulevard Denver, CO 80236.
Larimer County, Colorado Search and Rescue is holding a benefit concert at Performance Park in Estes Park on Saturday August 18th at 6:30PM. The featured bluegrass band, Gittyup Kitty will be performing.
Giddyup Kitty is a four-piece, high-energy, all-female bluegrass band from Longmont Colorado. The Denver Post says they are “the finest bluegrass you’ll find anywhere along the Front Range”.
Not long after Colorado’s Spring Creek band announced plans to disband, "Mockingbird" from Hold On Me won Best Americana Song at the 11th Annual Independent Music Awards.

Spring Creek, who kicked off their final summer tour to a sold out crowd at the Gold Hill Inn Memorial Day weekend.
Band members are keeping it all in the Quicksilver Productions family with Taylor joining his wife in Bonnie and Her Clydes, bass man Danny Booth joining Dirty Kitchen, banjo champion Chris Elliot joining the Blue Canyon Boys and Alex Johnstone sitting in with Finnders and Youngberg.

Special Consensus to play at Rio Grande Scenic Railroad’s Summer Concert Series this weekend.
ALAMOSA, Colo., June 27, 2012 The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad today announced its summer San Francisco/Napa Valley Getaway Contest, a competition for the best train travel story or memory this season.

Finnders and Youngberg bassist Erin Youngberg sent us a note to update us on the fire condition around Fort Collins and the resulting havoc it is wreaking upon their lives.
The Youngbergs, Erin and Aaron - both of whom play in the Finnders and Youngberg band, have been evacuated, allowed to return and are now under the evacuation notice once again. Erin writes:
….there is a big wildfire a few miles west of us here in Fort Collins. It has been difficult to contain with high winds and high temperatures. Not to mention a 10 yr drought and a forest full of beetle-killed pine trees. We were initially evacuated Sunday, June 10th upon our return from the Pagosa Folk N' Bluegrass Festival. The evacuation order was lifted for us to return home on Thursday, so we spent Friday and Saturday hauling stuff back up to our house west of Fort Collins. Then at 6pm this past Sunday (Father's Day) we received a pre-evacuation notice meaning we should be ready to leave immediately if we get an official evacuation notice. That status has not changed as of today (Tues). So we have our van loaded back up with stuff, friends have already removed all of our instruments and studio equipment (again) and are living out of our suitcase, ready to evacuate (again) if we need to. The fire fighting crew has been incredibly vigilant, communication has been really clear and honest, they are working so hard to protect homes in these difficult conditions. So although it has been inconvenient and frustrating, even scary at times, we just have to roll with the punches and hope mother nature can help us out with this one!
