IBMA Songwriter Series Set to Kick-Off!

Claire Lynch and IBMA Awards Nominees Kick Off Bluegrass Songwriter Series September 25 and 28

IBMA and the world famous Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee announce a new joint venture for bluegrass songwriters, featuring bands who perform largely original material and bluegrass songwriters in the round.

Spearheaded by the IBMA Bluegrass Songwriter Committee, the "Bluebird in the Bluegrass" quarterly series at the Bluebird Cafe will open with singer-songwriter extraordinaire and reigning Female Vocalist of the Year Claire Lynch and the Claire Lynch Band on Sunday Sept 25, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Donna Writes:

I'm happy to say I'll be back in the WSM studios on Friday morning with a few of the Poor Mountain Boys visiting with Bill Cody and Charlie Mattos. 

We'll be doing a few tunes off the new CD and talking about our trip to Russia...maybe even telling a few road stories we have yet to share!

Donna Ulisse Wraps It Up From Russia With Love!

Donna writes:

Dobroyea utro…..I know I slaughtered the spelling because it’s in Russian and they have a whole different alphabet but it says “good morning” and that will have to do for now because that’s the only greeting I know in Russian and I wanted to open up with some kind of howdy.


The Poor Mountain Boys and I have been far away since last I wrote. It was the most wonderful experience, one that I will not likely get over in my lifetime. Talk about your positive energy….whew!

Donna Ulisse's New CD "An Easy Climb" is out and ready for listening.

Donna Ulisse to Tour Russia!

We heard from Donna Ulisse that her band has been invited to go to Russia.

Donna Says:

The tour season for us is fast approaching and we've been adding some really interesting and exciting shows to my schedule. One that I can hardly wait to tell you about is...banjo roll please...we are going to RUSSIA! That's right, the country! We have been invited by the U.S-Russia Bi-Lateral Presidential Commission to perform at the second bluegrass festival in Russia. We will do two days of shows in Vologda and two days in Yekaterinburg as "bluegrass ambassadors" from the United States along with some of the fine Russian bluegrass bands. Here is a copy of the Bluegrass Bugle from the Bi-Lateral Commission that gives you an idea of what our trip will be like. We'll take lots of pictures and try to post on Facebook while we are there.

Donna Ulisse Photo Shoot for New CD

PHOTO SHOOT

This time we decided to do the photo shoot for the cover of my newest project in my home.

Rick Stanley, my sweet husband, stood by and watched our house being emptied out as we set the scene for the shoot. Of course, I called in the Cavalry. My Dad and brother Jimmy drove in from Yorktown, Virginia to help Rick with all the moving.

In the Studio - Magical Time for Donna Ulisse

Dona and the dandy Keith Sewell are creating another CD together of Donna's songs. Donna says it's a magical time for her. "I am always humbled by the way a song of mine blossoms under the guidance of Keith's talent".  Donna plans to have the project wrapped up and ready to ship hopefully in late May or early June.
