Rolling Stone Magazine Shows Interest in Steve Martin and Steep Canyon Rangers

Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers newest video premiers today exclusively on Rollling Stone Magazine.

..."I was impressed with David Hackett Fischer's book, Paul Revere's Ride, which gave the facts of a story that had been twisted throughout history. . . I was happy to write a song that told the truth of his ride, and tell the little-known story of what happened to Revere's horse that night." -Steve Martin...

The video is about the story of Paul Revere's horse.

This is the same song Martin wrote especially for the band's appearance last summer on the Washington Mall for the PBS special "A Capitol Fourth" and the same song the got millions of folks clapping and foot stomping around the world.

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers performed the song for the intimately shot video in front of a small group of fans in a tightly packed Williamsburg, Brooklyn loft.

“Justified” Music Video by Cumberland River Now Released

Song was used on FX Network's hit TV Drama JUSTIFIED

CUMBERLAND RIVER  announces the new music video of their original song “Justified” from their Rural Rhythm Records album, THE LIFE WE LIVE.  The video was filmed on location in the band’s hometown of Harlan, Kentucky by Anthony Ladd of Kneelindesign who also served as Video Producer.  The song, “Justified,” along with five more original songs were featured on two episodes of the FX Network’s hit drama, JUSTIFIED (starring Timothy Olyphant) last season with more of their music set to be included in Season 3 premiere on January 17, 2012.

The “Justified” video includes the talents of CUMBERLAND RIVER members Jamie Dean (lead vocals and banjo); Dustin Middleton (lead vocals and mandolin), Joey Jones (bass); Jamie Stewart (Dobro) and guest Andy Buckner.  Since the filming, Brad Gulley has joined the band on guitar and lead & harmony vocals.

Don’t be fooled by the name. Three Tall Pines is an award winning quartet –playing bluegrass and Americana from the heart of New England. Though their faces are young, the group’s timeless originals and interpretations of traditional songs persuade listeners that bygone eras were just a short while ago. Impressive instrumentalists in their own right, they transcend their diverse musical backgrounds to achieve soulful harmonies and sensitive performances that draw audiences in and leave plenty of space for the story to shine through.

Recently the band has caught the eye of many critics in their first few years together. Recently named 2011 Bluegrass Band of the Year in by the Motif Arts Magazine and winner of the Ossipee Valley Bluegrass Festival band competition, securing them a slot on the main stage in 2012. 

Scenic Roots Uses Dulcimer for Unique Sound!

While we were in Nashville for the 2011 IBMA World of Bluegrass Conference, we were introduced by Carolyn and Daniel Routh of Nu-Blu to two delightful young ladies who perform as Scenic Roots.

Scenic Roots is a sister duo which combines old-time mountain melodies, bluegrass drive, Irish traditions, and down-home humor. They will take you on a scenic journey as they weave their many musical influences together to create a unique blend of roots music. You’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time to the days when folks gathered on front porches to play and sing together.

The ladies have provided us with a copy of their debut video which accompanies their new single released this fall.

Older sister Erin plays the mountain dulcimer and younger sister Amber, a former Kansas State Fiddle champion, plays fiddle and banjo.

The two are currently touring in the Southeast United States where they are also working on a new album in the studio with Daniel Routh (Nu-Blu) and will head to the west in the summer of 2012.

DELLA MAE RELEASES TWO VIDEOS FROM NEWEST CD

Hey Hey Della Mae, the all-female bluegrass band we’ve been hearing so much about since last year’s World of Bluegrass Conference has just released two new videos from their latest CD, “I Built This Heart”.

“Jamie Dear” is the song they we were fortunate enough to get an advance copy of and featured the world-premier exclusive radio listening back in June to help the ladies with their Kickstarter® Fundraising campaign.

First Video from Nu-Blu

19-year old mandolin prodigy Sierra Hull covers bluegrass fan Adele’s touching ballad from her critically acclaimed album 21.  The video will be premiering on CMT.com beginning today and the single of the song will be available at all digital retailers August 2. 
“I’ve recently become a big fan of Adele’s music.  I first bought her album 21 a few months ago,” says Hull.  “She’s an amazing singer and songwriter.  I really loved how simple her version was of ‘Someone Like You’ was and thought it would translate well to cover acoustically with a full band.”

Twin sisters Dana and Lauren are back! 

Formerly Malibu Storm and The Shankman Twins, the award-winning ladies are back after some time off with a new "California" style bluegrass video.  This single from their new E.P.  is a twist on the Tupac and Dr. Dre classic.

Bluegrass Video Used to Solicit Community Participation!

The Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, NC planning board kicks off their growth campaign with a music video featuring an original bluegrass song.

Looking for inspiration to help their community to participate in a plan update, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, NC planners went hi-tech-multimedia, creating an interactive website, a film series, and to kick things off, a bluegrass music video.

The video launched Friday and features Danbury-based bluegrass band Kill-Basa Bill's Roadshow in places around Forsyth County — recreation centers, neighborhoods, parks — singing about population growth with the help of a banjo, guitar and stand-up bass.

The lyrics begin:

"Downtown is happenin', with new restaurants and bars
People walkin', strollin', getting out of their cars
Offices and a shops, and even a new ballpark
People coming downtown even after dark."
